Located just on the outskirts of Westmount, on Atwater south of St-Antoine and north of the Lachine Canal, the Atwater Market is a farmer's market that offers urban dwellers the chance to buy fresh local food. It's simply a wonderful experience, whether you shop there for dinner, or enjoy a Saturday morning coffee and baguette. Rows upon rows of colourful vegetables and fruits from the surrounding farmlands provide fresh produce. You also have a choice of butchers, cheese shops (including specialty Quebec cheeses), fresh pasta and a fish store. There is also a small SAQ (our provincial wine store) for last minute wine purchases to complete your sumptious table. The market is open all year long, with its busiest time in the summer when annuals and perennials fill up the outdoor stalls. The fall brings harvest with a plentiful and varied selection of local apples, pears and late season berries.
